Sit-to-stand test as a measure of aging health
A simple five-second sit-to-stand test can be used as a quick indirect measure of one’s aging health. This test involves sitting on the floor and then standing up without using hands or other supports. According to a 2012 study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology Health, a successful sit-to-stand test may indicate stronger cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and optimal balance and flexibility – key indicators of physical aging. Health professionals recommend this test as it is associated with potential longevity and can identify areas needing improvement for better health and well being.
