There have been numerous reports of unexpected pregnancies among women taking popular weight loss drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. Many women with PCOS have seen their menstrual cycles normalize after losing weight with these drugs, which may increase the likelihood of becoming pregnant. These weight loss medications have not been extensively studied in pregnant women and the effect of early exposure on fetal development remains unknown. Currently, these weight loss drugs are not FDA-approved for use in patients who are pregnant. Medical professionals strongly recommend that women stop taking these drugs at least two months before trying to get pregnant.
