Chemicals in popular household products and their potential link to neurological disorders
A new study published in the scientific journal Nature Neuroscience suggests potential risks posed by chemicals found in common household products, which could have a negative effect on brain health. The researchers identify specific compounds, known as quaternary ammonium compounds, present in body washes, fabric softeners, shampoos, sunscreens, baby wipes, shaving creams, and disinfectant that could be linked to neurological disorders such as autism and multiple sclerosis. With increasing awareness of these health risks, consumers are urged to seek out safer alternatives and advocate for more thorough chemical assessments in consumer products.
