Yoga may guard against cognitive decline

A recent study published in the journal Translational Psychiatry suggests that regular yoga practice can improve cognitive function and protect against age-related mental decline. While certain brain regions typically shrink with age, older adults who practiced yoga showed less shrinkage compared to those who did not. This finding suggests that yoga may help combat age-related declines in memory and cognitive abilities. By incorporating mindful movement, breath control, and meditation, yoga promotes brain plasticity, enhances memory, and sharpens focus. These benefits not only boost mental agility but may also reduce the risk of cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's and dementia.
