While fragrances are commonly used in products ranging from perfumes to household cleaners, recent research is revealing that they may not be as harmless as they seem. Studies have shown that many synthetic fragrances contain volatile organic compounds, phthalates, and other chemicals that can trigger allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues. Furthermore, these substances have been linked to more severe health outcomes, including insulin resistance and cardiovascular disease. With these findings, experts are urging consumers to be cautious with scented products and advocating for stricter regulations and clearer labeling to protect public health.
