The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently released an advisory regarding the use of "produce wash" to clean fruits and vegetables, stating several reasons it should be avoided. The main reason is that some produce washes may contain ingredients that could pose serious health risks or are not approved for direct food contact. FDA officials highlight that washing fruits and vegetables under running water is sufficient to remove dirt, bacteria, and pesticides, protecting you and your family members from foodborne illness.
