A new study featured in the journal Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology has revealed that consuming diet and artificially sweetened beverages could potentially increase the risk of a severe heart condition called atrial fibrillation by 20%. This research highlights the need for people to be cautious about their consumption of diet drinks, which are often perceived as healthier alternatives but may negatively impact cardiovascular health. More research is needed to fully understand how these low-calorie diet beverages influence heart health over time. Experts recommend substituting diet sodas and artificially flavored drinks with water to reduce the risk of atrial fibrillation.
