A new study published in the journal Nature Medicine reveals that maintaining a nutritious diet in midlife can significantly increase the chances of reaching age 70 without developing chronic diseases. The 30-year study found that people who ate more plant-based foods and fewer ultra-processed items were more likely to experience healthier aging. Diets rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats were associated with better long-term health outcomes, highlighting the powerful role of nutrition in promoting longevity and reducing the risk of conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
