A new study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine suggests that being physically fit is a stronger predictor of longevity than simply maintaining a low body weight. Researchers found that individuals with good cardiovascular fitness had a significantly lower risk of death, even if they were overweight or obese. The study highlights the importance of regular physical activity in promoting long-term health, with fitness playing a crucial role in reducing the risks associated with chronic diseases, regardless of body size.
