The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed a new initiative to place nutrition labels on the front of food packages. This move, part of a government-wide effort to combat the nation’s chronic disease crisis, aims to make nutritional information more accessible and help consumers make healthier choices at a glance. The proposed labels would clearly list whether a product contains low, medium, or high levels of saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars. The FDA hopes to encourage better dietary habits, increase transparency in food labeling, and promote overall public health.
